These are the terms for using Ajax Birding Co. for bird sitting and boarding in Ajax and the surrounding area. When you book care with us, you are agreeing to what is below. We have kept it human, but it still sets out what each of us is responsible for.

How booking works

Everything starts with an inquiry. You reach out through our contact form, email, or phone, and we talk through what your bird needs. There is no online checkout and no instant booking — a stay is only confirmed once we have spoken, agreed on the details, and both said yes. Until you have that confirmation from us, consider your dates tentative.

Quotes are custom

We do not do one-size-fits-all pricing. Every quote is built around your bird, the type of care, the length of stay, and any special needs, which is why we ask questions first. A quote we give you is for the arrangement we discussed; if the plan changes — different dates, a longer stay, extra birds — the price may change too, and we will let you know before anything is locked in.

What we need from you

Good bird care is a two-way street. To take care of your bird properly, we count on you to:

  • Bring a healthy bird. Your bird should be in good health and not showing signs of illness at drop-off. If your bird is unwell or contagious, tell us in advance so we can decide together what is safe — for your bird and for any others in our care.
  • Send the right supplies. Please provide your bird's usual food, any treats, and anything specific it relies on day to day, so we can keep its routine as close to home as possible.
  • Share the health details. Let us know about any medical conditions, medications and how to give them, allergies, dietary needs, and quirks we should watch for.
  • Give us your vet's information. We ask for your veterinarian's name and number, plus a way to reach you, so we can act fast if anything comes up.
  • Be honest about behaviour. If your bird bites, plucks, gets territorial, or has habits we should know about, tell us up front. It helps us care for it well and keeps everyone safe.

Health and emergencies

We treat every bird as if it were our own and watch closely for anything out of the ordinary. If your bird shows signs of illness or injury during a stay, we will try to reach you first. If we cannot reach you and we believe your bird needs a vet, we will seek appropriate care using the veterinary contact you have given us (or the nearest available avian vet), and any related costs are the owner's responsibility. We will always keep you in the loop as soon as we can.

Changes and cancellations

Plans shift — we get it. If you need to change or cancel a booking, please tell us as early as you reasonably can. The more notice you give, the easier it is for us to adjust and to free up the spot for another bird family. Because we hold time and space for your bird, last-minute cancellations are harder on a small service like ours, so we appreciate a heads-up the moment you know. Any specific deposit or notice expectations for your booking will be spelled out when we confirm it, so there are no surprises either way.

Drop-off and pick-up

We will agree on drop-off and pick-up details when we confirm your stay. Please try to stick to the times we set; if you are running late or your plans change, a quick message goes a long way so we can keep things smooth for your bird and any others staying with us.

Liability basics

We care for birds attentively and in good faith, and we do everything reasonable to keep your bird safe, comfortable, and happy. That said, animals are living creatures and not everything is within anyone's control. Except where caused by our negligence, Ajax Birding Co. is not responsible for illness, injury, escape, or other outcomes that arise despite reasonable care — particularly where they stem from a pre-existing condition, an undisclosed health or behaviour issue, or supplies and instructions that were not provided. Being open with us up front is the single best way to keep your bird safe.

Photos

We love sending owners updates and the occasional photo of their bird settling in. If you would prefer we never share your bird's picture publicly, just say so and we will keep them strictly between us.

Service area

We serve Ajax and the surrounding Durham Region. If you are just outside our usual area, ask anyway — we will let you know honestly whether we can help.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date at the top, and the version posted here is the one that applies. The terms in effect when we confirm your booking are the ones that govern that stay.

Talk to us

If anything here is unclear, ask before you book — we would rather answer questions than leave you guessing. Reach us at info@ajaxbirdingco.ca or (289) 212-8615.
