We are a small, passionate team of bird lovers who believe every feathered companion deserves exceptional care. Here is who we are and why we do what we do.
Two bird-obsessed friends in Ajax decided to turn their hobby into a service. It started simply enough: neighbours would ask us to look after their parrots and cockatiels whenever they went on vacation, and we always said yes. We loved it. We looked forward to it. Eventually, we realized we were spending more time caring for other people's birds than doing almost anything else.
So in early 2025 we made it official. Ajax Birding Co. was born out of a genuine love for these incredible animals and a frustration with the lack of bird-specific care options in our community. Most pet sitters treat birds as an afterthought. We wanted to build something where birds come first, always.
Today, we serve dozens of families across Ajax and the surrounding Durham Region. Our approach has not changed since day one: treat every bird like it is our own, communicate openly with owners, and never stop learning about avian health and behaviour.
Every decision we make starts with one question: is this best for the bird? From our environment design to our booking limits, the answer always guides us.
We believe you deserve to know exactly how your bird is doing at all times. We over-communicate on purpose because trust is built through honesty.
Avian science evolves constantly. We stay current on nutrition research, behaviour studies, and veterinary best practices to give your bird the most informed care possible.
We are proud to be part of the Ajax community. We support local bird rescues, participate in pet adoption events, and share our knowledge freely with fellow bird lovers.
We do not believe in one-size-fits-all bird care. Before your bird's first stay, we conduct a thorough intake call to learn about their diet, behaviour, favourite activities, triggers, and medical needs. This information shapes a personalized care plan that guides every interaction.
Throughout the stay, we stick to your bird's routine as closely as possible while layering in enrichment that keeps them mentally stimulated. Here is what sets our approach apart:
